It's the "as official as it gets" Pacific Northwest Corgi Picnic, including a silent auction to benefit Corgi Aid.
Update: O.M.G.! Based on the RSVPs so far this one looks to be the biggest PNW Picnic ever!
Update #2: O.M.G. O. M. G.! It was!
We lost count at 70 bodies, and now estimate upwards of 80-90 people attended. We couldn't even begin to count the dogs.
Thanks to everyone who attended. It was a great time.
Over $1300 was raised for Corgi Aid! Thanks again to Jean Clements-Macak for running the auction, it was a grand success.

- I'll link to more as I hear of them, so please let me know if you have photos to share.
For posterity, here's the rest of the original announcement:
And the weather's even cooperating!
So, with that in mind, a couple of requests/reminders:
-
Parking: I'd recommend parking on the street behind our home, perhaps by the barn, or if that fills up, the street along side our house. You're welcome to park in our driveways, but since people do come and go throughout the afternoon please don't block anyone in.
-
Chairs: you might want to bring one if convenient. Or plan on sitting on the ground (i.e. at Corgi-level
). -
Poop: Please do scoop up after your pet, but no need for bags - look for shovels and traffic cones. Underneath each traffic cone is a hole specifically for the results of your pet's production.
If you need directions: email me. I don't post or link to them publicly.
Looks like it'll be a good one. Once again, here are the details:
- Saturday August 6th
- Noon until we're dog-tired
- At Leo & Kathy's home in Woodinville, WA (a Seattle suburb)
The Auction
Items to Donate?
- please contact Jean Clements-Macak (jcmacak at gmail.com) who has once again graciously offered to coordinate the auction.
- Bring Money - item donations are nice, but the
point is to raise money, and that means
bidding on and purchasing those donated items at the picnic. At as
high a price as possible.
Please come prepared to be generous! - Bring More Money - we'll also have a donataion jar this year in case you lose the auction you've been bidding in but still want to leave your cash behind. Or if you just feel like leaving cash behind.
The Picnic
If you've not experienced a PNW picnic or one of our gatherings in recent years, we have about an acre of fenced yard that turns out to be pretty much perfect for letting the dogs (and occasionally hoomans) run off a little steam.
All are welcome: corgis, part corgis and NAC (not-a-corgi) friends. The rule is simple: all MUST be well behaved, and play well with others - this applies to both canine and hoomans alike.
We will provide hamburgers, hotdogs and beverages. You're welcome to bring a snack side-dish to share, but do please be prepared to take leftovers with you, as we frequently have much more than needed.
Think good thoughts for good weather! The picnic happens rain or shine (how sad that we even have to think about that this year).
We'd Like Your Feedback!
If you've attended in the past and even if you can't attend this year, we'd like to ask you a question:
What one thing could we do to make the Pacific Northwest Corgi Picnic better?
We've been doing this long enough that ... well ... it's possible we're stuck in our ways. We definitely have tried a few things over the years (games mostly fizzled, for example; agility equipment was kinda fun when someone brought some; etc.), but even so, perhaps there are things that we've overlooked or haven't thought of.
So, if you have an idea - What one thing could we do to make the Pacific Northwest Corgi Picnic better? - drop me an email on that too: leo <at> notenboom.org.
We hope to see you at the picnic!
Helen, Dagmar, Sammy & Chester
(& Leo & Kathy)
